I’m genuinely happy for the NHL that their first outdoor game had such a great finish. Zach had been bugging me to watch it, and I found the channel just in time to see Crosby drop the game winner. It made for good television.
That being said, why schedule the big game on New Year’s Day against three or four national football games? Was that really the best available time slot? Why not 1 p.m. on this Saturday or Sunday? Saturday seems to only have Rutgers-Ball State on ESPN2, and Sunday looks free (the NFL games don’t start until 4:30.)

agreed, when i first read about the scheduled time for that game, my frist reaction was what the hell.
