well, i think it's a lot easier to coach defense than offense. though i say that as jerry sloan, not JERRY SLOAN.

Yes Jerry i agree that brewer is a young stud at SG and shouldn't be losing minutes to kyle korver. Korver could provide some help as a deep threat but as you said, his ceiling has already been found and his potential is capped. I don't mind the deal at all as long as brewer's minutes aren't cut significantly.

I guess the one thing i always overlook when discussing the jazz is just how ridiculously bad they are at defending. Korver certainly doesn't help in this arena. Okur is a very bad defender and if he's not providing offense you are in big trouble when he's getting huge minutes. I wouldn't be shocked to see milsap get more and more burn as the season goes on. For some reason i like the jazz and the way they play. I hope they can figure things out and get back on a roll.

maybe hell play a robert horry type role and come in once in a while and nail a few 3 balls this would allow brewer more burn potentially.

i wish the stones still had mehmo.

I completely agree the deal was solely about dumping Giricek, I just don't know if getting someone who plays the same position as Brewer is a great idea.

Despite what O'Connor says, this has a lot to do with dumping Giri. Players that get in Sloan's doghouse (Amaechi, Arroyo) are quickly shipped out. The only reason it didn't happen with Ostertag is because he had such a horrendous contract and couldn't be moved.

That said, the fact that we could land Korver for Giri and a conditional pick, which would be mid-late first round at worst, is a coup. Korver is a little one-dimensional, but he'll fill an badly needed hole. Okur hasn't been hitting jack this year and KK can camp out on the three-point line and let them fly.

So you agree that Brewer is really good though, right? Don't you want him on the court a lot? why bring in a one-dimensional guy like korver that is used to playing a lot of minutes? that's my only concern for utah. and i agree with you, if all those guys are playing their best ball (which never seems to happen at the same time) then they can play with anybody.

Utah needed a shakeup. Any team i talk up as being really good ends up imploding and doing awful. I just htink that top to bottom Utah has one of the best squads in the league and also is still very young and developing.

Why does okur blow nuts this season? I thought he was really good the past couple seasons? Is he overweight? Injured? Disinterested? I have no idea, but i think with dwill, brewer, kirlenko, boozer and memo they should be a top 5 seed in the west with the ability to make some major noise.
